THE REQUIREMENT
Our client, a warehousing and distribution company, needed covered space to load articulated lorries out of the elements. The canopy needed to accommodate a full-length curtain-sided trailer, with space to load either side. Due to site topography and location, cladding was required on one side to keep out wind and driving rain, whilst on the other side access was needed to an industrial door in the existing building part way along the length of the structure.
OUR SOLUTION
In this case, we used an S-line to create the canopy, with a portal beam on one side to extend the normal 2.5m bay length to 5m, allowing access to the main building. Cladding was fitted to eaves on the opposing side, in the customer’s choice of colour scheme, to ensure stock was left untarnished by the elements during loading. Although a 5m eave height was available, given the requirement to house only one vehicle at a time beneath the apex of the canopy, we provided the S-line with a 4.4m eave, which would do the job at a lower cost to the client.
