THE REQUIREMENT
This client manufactures insulation and trim parts for the automotive industry. Facing a sustained increase in demand, they needed somewhere to store both raw materials and finished product ready for despatch. Due to the materials being used in production, it was necessary to minimise the chance of damp permeating the building, including whilst loading and unloading with a forklift.
Additionally, the yard had an irregular shape at one end and, though the client wished to maximise use of the space, our standard bay sizes meant there would be several metres of wasted space. The client also wished to obtain planning permission prior to installation, and ensure the building blended with their existing building in terms of colour and appearance.
OUR SOLUTION
Having been assisted by our planning consultants to successfully obtain planning permission, the building we installed is our tried and tested H-line model, equipped with 60mm core ISO panel cladding and an inflated thermal roof to minimise damp. The ISO cladding, normally only to eaves, goes to the apex in this case, in special colour RAL 6021, enabling it to blend with the original main building.
To optimise use of available space, we installed a special 2.5m bay in the centre of four standard 5m bays, and to further minimise heat loss placed a radar activated high-speed door inboard of the steel roller shutter, for speedy forklift access.
